22 Blues

In the Winter,
When I wasn’t winning,
We won together.

We wanted winners,
Saw sinners,
Talked of Japanese
Playing see-saws
Til twenty-one.

We played pontoon
When we couldn’t see past
The two of us.

Played Blackjack in pairs,
Never won
When we saw
A pair of Jacks though –
That’s the way we never won.
